What does this part of the Programme entail?

The Healthy Body programme is a tailor-made, 12-week process that fills in and around your normal life, that will strip away years of accumulated compensations and inefficiencies and leave you with a healthier and more capable body; one that is more flexible, durable, athletic and attractive. The process will also undo the tension patterns that create most recurrent aches and pains, will enable you to perform better at any activity or sport and will increase your daily energy levels and mood.

What is the philosophy?

The human body  was designed on the savannahs of Africa. Six million years of evolutionary adaptation created a body that was ideal for the physical needs of a hunter-gatherer. But today, the modern world with its desk jobs, cars, computers, sofas, sedentary lifestyles and unusual sporting activities creates stresses and strains that force our bodies into compensations and protective patterns of muscle tension. Over the years these lead to weaknesses and inefficiencies and eventually to aches, pains, injuries and reduced abilities.

What will i learn and what will i get out of it?

On this course you will get a clear understanding of the patterns of muscle tension in your body, where they come from and what problems they are causing you and will cause you in the future. You will learn how to progressively undo these patterns and return your body to its best possible state. The tools you will learn are the best available, drawn from the most effective parts of many disciplines such as Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts, Body Rolling, Feldenkrais, Rolfing, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Alexander Technique, Hannah Somatics and many more. On their own none of these disciplines can achieve the results we are looking for, but brought together within the framework of evolutionary biomechanics they are extraordinarily powerful and effective.

How can i start a programme?

A 12-week Healthy Body programme can currently only be undertaken 1-on-1 with your own coach (either weekly, biweekly or monthly for 12 weeks, cost £35 per session)

Who teaches the course?

The course is led by leading Osteopath, Mark Thompson. He is an expert in evolutionary and adaptive biomechanics and has written an acclaimed book on the evolution of the human body and mind. He has eradicated injuries and improved performance for a number of top international sports stars and produced a revolutionary injury prevention programme for the Welsh Rugby Team. He is also a sought-after lecturer and media commentator and recently designed a unique new car seat for the world’s top sports car manufacturer.
