What does this programme entail?
The Enlightened Body programme is a tailor-made, physical routine that fills in and around your normal life. It will strip away years of accumulated compensations and inefficiencies and leave you with a healthier and more capable body; one that is more flexible, durable, athletic and attractive. The process will also undo the tension patterns that create most recurrent aches and pains, will enable you to perform better at any activity or sport and will increase your daily energy levels and mood.

The human body was designed on the savannahs of Africa. Six million years of evolutionary adaptation created a body that was ideal for the physical needs of a hunter-gatherer. But today, the modern world with its desk jobs, cars, computers, sofas, sedentary lifestyles and unusual sporting activities creates stresses and strains that force our bodies into compensations and protective patterns of muscle tension. Over the years these lead to weaknesses and inefficiencies and eventually to aches, pains, injuries and reduced abilities.

What will i learn and what will i get out of it?
On this 12-week programme you will get a clear understanding of the patterns of muscle tension in your body, where they come from and what problems they are causing you and will cause you in the future. You will learn how to progressively undo these patterns and return your body to its best possible state. The tools you will learn are the best available, drawn from the most effective parts of many disciplines such as Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts, Body Rolling, Feldenkrais, Rolfing, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Alexander Technique, Hannah Somatics and many more. On their own none of these disciplines can achieve the results we are looking for, but brought together within the framework of evolutionary biomechanics they are extraordinarily powerful and effective.

How does it work?
There are four steps to an Enlightened Body programme:
Step 1: Attend our 1-day introductory workshop. This will help you to better understand the patterns of your own body and how they create inefficiencies and weaknesses. You will also learn the 10 stage routine that will ultimately return you to your best state of physical health.
Step 2: Book a 1-hour assessment. This will tell you where all the patterns of tension and weakness are in your own body and explain why you have any aches, pains or susceptibility to injury. We will also take objective measurements that will be used to check your progress along the way.
Step 3: Start a 12-week programme and attend a weekly progress class. You will be given a programme specifically designed for your needs which you can undertake at home or at the Light Centre. You will attend a weekly class to check on your progress, introduce a new area of knowledge, allow you to ask questions and get support from your group.
Step 4: Attend the other two 1-day workshops (Enlightened Eating and Enlightened Thinking), then progress on to our graduate programme (Enlightened Living) where you’ll explore how to better integrate your new knowledge into your life and explore ways to work with others to improve your local community.

How much does it cost?
Step 1: 1-day introductory workshop costs £60
Step 2: 1-hour assessment costs £60
Step 3: 12-week programme and weekly class costs £9 per week
Steps 1 and 2 can be taken in either order. You can either pay for the whole programme in one go or pay for each step as you progress through your programme. You can also choose to add extra classes and therapies at your own discretion.

Whole Body Mobilisation Routine
In the 1930’s Naturopathic and Osteopathic Pioneers Stanley Lief and Boris Chaitow developed a physical restoration routine called Neuro-muscular Technique. It involved general mobilisation of the spine. pelvis and extremities and took approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Today at the Light Centre we have adapted this routine to take into account the increased stresses in the modern world, especially desk and chair based culture. This osteopathic routine complements the Light Programme and is an ideal way of overcoming the types of back, neck, shoulder, hip and knee pains that characterise modern life.
